DIY is always the core of vaping culture!!!
As vaping is as much about personalization. For the part of e-juice, for me
there are 2 reasons to DIY. First, finding the e-juice that is exactly what I
want can be nearly impossible. Second, for FUN!!!
My vaping mates had sent me some e-coupons
from Health Cabin:
Though I just bought a very very small
amount of stuff, at least I can still enjoy the 3% one (by just copying the
discount code there, and I do really like their simplest discount codes!!!). It’s
ideal for advantage-takers and lazy shoppers like me.
Let’s get started from some basic knowledge
about e-juice and equipment.
The general formula of e-juice is:
PG / VG + Flavor + (Nicotine – optional)
PG and VG are referred to propylene glycol
and vegetable glycerin respectively. They are as the base or carrier fluid that
makes up most of the volume of e-juice. Although you can choose either one
(both are perfectly fine for vaping), most vapers (including me) prefer mix
them up in a specific ratio. Most common are 70/30, 50/50 and 30/70. The flavor
influence of the ratio is really hard to describe. So I recommend all of you to
experiment with different ratios if you are just getting started. Some bloggers
have already given some pro analysis of PG & VG (Thx so much!!!):
PG is
an organic chemical compound that is widely used in food, tobacco, and personal
care products. It is also used in topical, oral, injectable, and inhaled
pharmaceutical products. PG doesn’t alter the true flavor of the flavor concentrates
as much as VG can. Also, PG delivers a stronger throat hit, which can result in
slight irritation after extended use. It is rare, but some people have or
develop an allergy to PG. VG is slightly sweeter and slightly more viscous
(thicker) than PG. Higher VG ratio eLiquids may take slightly longer to soak
into a cotton wick, for example. VG can slightly alter the way a flavor tastes,
but that can be good or bad depending on your individual taste. High VG is
usually preferred by “drippers” using cotton and coil atomizers, because it has
a smoother throat feel and generates a more visible “cloud.”
For PG and VG, the simpler the better. These
2 on Healthcabin.net are just fine enough.
About the flavor, a lot of fantastic
flavors more than you can imagine, they are available from a wide variety
of sources. It’s rather simple when compared to other parts. I’m not going to
introduce them one by one. Just google it. Or you can buy it on Health Cabin
like me
Nicotine is optional (I never add it), coz
some really don’t want to get the negative effect from it, similar to
conventional smoking. Source of nicotine can be from separate nicotine liquids,
or some PG and VGs. Although I’m not expert in this, I can give you some kind
advices about the nicotine usage. The mg of nicotine is the amount of nicotine
per ml. Note that don't confuse % and mg, 100mg nicotine liquid already
contains 10% nicotine.
0mg to 10mg = Low
11mg to 16mg = Medium
17mg to 24mg = High
25mg to 36mg = Extra High
You should never exceed 36mg, as it is damn
dangerous to your brain!!! Of course, I do prefer a nicotine-free vape.
Last but
not least, how to mix them? Simpler than you may think. Bottles and a syringe
would be enough. Actually you can also find bottles in many sizes and syringe here.

You can
buy a few of them together with your order for convenience, as they are not
expensive.
Let’s
move back to the formula, PG / VG + Flavor + (Nicotine
– optional). I’m not going to give you the exact ratio as it really varies much
from vapers to vapers, depending on the very personal preference. (so just
try!!!) But, a most
important element of the recipe is that it must be reproducible. So remember
how much stuff you have added, precisely, in every single step, otherwise you
can’t make exactly the same e-juice next time. Trust me!!! (no matter how lucky
you are) Another important thing: Remember don’t exceed the nicotine limit!!!
